Boycotting Beijing 2022 continues in this release.

A crash issue and a regression due to the big revamp in v8.3 have been fixed in this version.

ENTER & TAB to insert selection of auto-completion list and no save on backup default behavours are restored in this release, because of a lot of complains. However, updating your Notepad++ to this release via installer won’t change these 2 settings automatically - you have to set these 2 options manually via Preferences dialog. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Note that due to v8.3 big revamp for the large files, there are a lot of plugins found to have stability issue with v8.3.1 release. Here is the info to the plugin authors for fixing the incompatibility and instability problems.
